I have two device setting for same ONVIF camera on same version and preferences of Security Spy but on two different Mac. I get two different audio input options. On one Mac I have Audio input: None or Network Device, on other Mac audio input: None/Network device/Built-In Microphone. With Built-in Microphobe choice on camera status Audio become enabled. Both network device on Security Spy Video Device Setting, type: ONVIF format: RTSP TCP (video and audio).Maybe it depends on the quicktime settings (?), thanks for any suggestion.

  • The "Built-in Microphone" option refers to the Mac's own built-in microphone, not the camera's (SecuritySpy adds all of the Mac's audio inputs here with names provided by the system). So the fact that this is available on one Mac but not the other just means that one Mac has a built-in microphone and the other does not.

If you want audio input from the camera, it's the "This network device" option that you should select here. If you aren't getting audio input when using this option, it could be due to a number of factors, for example:

    - Are you sure the camera actually supports audio? What make/model camera is this?

    - Check the camera's settings and make sure its audio setting is enabled (some cameras have this turned off by default).

    - Check the camera's settings for the audio encoding options and try them in turn (e.g. AAC, G.711 etc.).

    - Try the latest beta version of SecuritySpy (currently 5.2.5b8), as this fixes AAC audio support for certain IP cameras.
