support for additional cameras
There are tons of cameras that I see are more affordable on Ebay and other outlets that I would like to use (but not supported yet by SecuritySpy). What ways can WE do to make it easier and faster to get camera support? Many of these are generic brand cameras and I'm sure normal support will be slow or nonexistent. I see lots of cameras supporting an ONVIF protocol - does that make it easier for SecuritySpy to support them?

Many of the cameras on eBay are rebranded OEM models. Most of them we already support under the original manufacturer's brand and model numbers, but it's sometimes difficult to tell what these are. Therefore it's best to stick to cameras on our camera compatibility list. If you have any cameras in mind, post them here and we'll do our best to determine what they are.
Virtually all ONVIF models will work with SecuritySpy. At the moment, to get such cameras to work requires that SecuritySpy already has a built-in device type for the camera, or that you set it up in manual mode, which requires knowing the RTSP URI for the particular camera. We are currently working on an ONVIF-specific negotiating mechanism where SecuritySpy would be able to discover this URI automatically. -
Update: SecuritySpy 3.2 now supports ONVIF.
