Large File Size on Axis M1054
We have 6 Axis M1054 cameras (which are 1MP) and one Axis M1025 (2MP). All cameras are set to use the H.264 stream. The 6 M1054 camera save files that are around 30GB for a 12 recording, while the higher resolution M1025 has file sizes around 7GB for the same 12 hour period. I do not use recompress video in security spy. I am wondering if security spy is pulling the MJPEG from the M1054 cameras and not the H.264. Having file sizes over 3x the size of a camera with 2x the resolution is baffling me.

To confirm you're using the H.264 stream, open the Camera Info window in SecuritySpy and click in the header (where you see the column names) to get a pop-up menu that allows you to choose which columns are enabled. Enable the "Format of Incoming Video" option. If this says H.264, and you have not enabled the "Recompress video data" options for the cameras, then SecuritySpy will be recording this H.264 video data directly to the captured movie files.
It's certainly possible for H.264 video to result in the file sizes you are getting for your 12-hour recordings. The factors that will affect this are the frame rate and encoding quality of the video stream, which can both be set in the camera's settings pages. I would generally recommend using a medium-to-high (but not too high) encoding quality, and adjust the frame rate downwards until you get an acceptable data rate (5-10fps is usually good).
