IOS App Bandwidth consumption- six Cams- 80mb/min
Hi Ben-
I really appreciate you committing to an iOS app.
However, like Remote Patrol, bandwidth is a real issue for me.
Presently, on the IOS start page, with all 6 of my 3MP cameras… It's about 80 MB per minute.
I hope you'll consider some option for throttling back the bandwidth on the iOS app.
Maybe this could be done through a new compression setting in SecuritySpy OS Application... dedicated to the IOS app feed.
But my preference, would be to incorporate the second stream that most cameras now offer to the SecuritySpy OS application. With this option, I could set up a second group of cameras, with the much lower resolutions of 340 x 220, that could be used 90% of the time… But if something was concerning, I could switch over to the high-resolution feeds and share or capture those images from my iPhone.
I'm considering simply upping my license to 16 cameras, but that doesn't really seem fair, just to get a second feed of an existing camera.
Thanks again!
Jay
ps: 2 way audio ??

Hi Jay,
The app doesn't pull in the full 3MP resolution: it will request a smaller size, depending on what it needs to display. However we will be able to optimise this for the next update, by getting the app to request lower resolutions than it currently does. So you should see an improvement in the next update.
If you are connecting over a local network, 80 MB per minute is insignificant. Over the internet it could be significant, but still it's not particularly high, and typically users won't be viewing video for long periods of time over the internet using their iOS device.
