gmail error message - Review blocked sign-in attempt
I keep getting this error message from Google in my regular email in-box. These are clearly initiated by SecuritySpy.
I could provide the error message from SecuritySpy but I would need to attach a screen shot. I can't copy the error message text from the SecuritySpy preferences pane.
Here is the email i received from Google.
Hi Michael,
Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account -myemail-@gmail.com from an app that doesn't meet modern security standards.

We strongly recommend that you use a secure app, like Gmail, to access your account. All apps made by Google meet these security standards. Using a less secure app, on the other hand, could leave your account vulnerable. Learn more.
Google stopped this sign-in attempt, but you should review your recently used devices:

This is because SecuritySpy currently uses standard (encrypted) SMTP authentication, rather than the more stringent two-step authentication used by Google. We are currently looking into this, but for now, what you can do is create an App Password specifically for SecuritySpy, allowing it to send emails via Gmail. The password will be 16 characters: make sure to enter them without any spaces.

Hi,
The link you provided for App Password provided the following response.
"The setting you are looking for is not available for your account."
Looks like I need a special account?

In that case you need to enable two-factor verification. This will have the additional benefit of further securing your Google account, by using a code send to your phone, when logging in for the first time from Gmail apps that support this. Once enabled, you can then create the app-specific password for SecuritySpy.
