Stranger Error Message on Camera

I am using 12 Panasonic BB Series throughout my house.

On one of them, I keep getting this message in the SecuritySpy software:
09/19/2016 08:58:34: Error from camera "Master Bedroom", it will be closed. 4.0.5,5575,55340,818 Failed to record video frame. The key frame (I-frame) rate from the network device is too low (GOV length too high), please locate and change this setting in the device.

I cannot find anything about iFrame Rate, Gove Length, or Key Fram on the settings for this camera. It is set up identically to all the other cameras throughout my house. What should I be checking for? What should I change?

  • Hi Scott,

This is a setting related to the MPEG-4 or H.264 video compression performed by the camera. Could you please tell me exactly what the camera's model number is, and I'll see if I can find the user manual online and point you to the right setting.
  • Thanks Ben!

The Camera is a Panasonic BB-HCM511A running firmware Version 3.60R00 in IPv4 mode.

I look forward to your response.

    Kindest Regards,
    -Scott

    Hi Scott,

I've checked the camera's user manual and there unfortunately doesn't appear to be such a setting available.

What you could try is to increase the MPEG-4 bit rate (both the minimum and maximum settings) - with a higher bit rate the camera should use more I frames.

If that doesn't work, the only solution would be to switch it to JPEG streaming, in the Preferences -> Cameras -> Device section in SecuritySpy.
