Amcrest Communication Error

My IP2M-841W periodically (every minute or so) stops streaming with a "Communications Error". After a few seconds it begins streaming again. This camera is accessed only via WAN by a single user. I've assumed the connection is corrupted or the camera can't keep up. However, this problem doesn't occur when viewing the camera in a web browser or iPhone app.

Any ideas?

Frame Rate = 10 fps
Bit Rate = 1024
Frame Interval = 20

    Is this reliably happening at exact intervals (e.g. every 60 seconds), or is there some randomness to the disconnections? If the former then this sounds like the camera intentionally disconnecting because it doesn't understand SecuritySpy's "heartbeat" message; if the latter then this indicates a network issue.

    SecuritySpy sends heartbeat messages (small packets of data) to cameras periodically to indicate to them that there is an active client receiving the stream, otherwise the camera may disconnect. Some cameras implement this in unusual ways, so this could be what is going on here.

    The connection is lost every 100 seconds and is very regular. It normally reconnects after 10 seconds. Sometimes a bit longer, up to 15 seconds. The disconnected time doesn't affect the overall interval.

    this just started happening to me. My 2 POE (out of 9 total cameras) cameras started to time out "The Operation Timed Out" after I installed an application called "Adblock", which had me apply a proxy to my network configuration. My theory is that the proxy might be slowing access down for the 2 POE cameras (which are much higher quality that the other 7). I going to get rid of the proxy and see what happens. Can the "time out" be increased if this turns out to be the case?

    OK, debugged this issue. It was caused by concurrent large file transfers between a NAS box and a Disk attached to the Security Spy Server. The NAS happened to be on the same LAN segment as the POE cameras, and the transfer was apparently causing the time outs. Probably need to upgrade to that segment to 100MB ethernet. All is well!
