Hardware Acceleration question
Hardware acceleration question for Ben:
Ben, I'm about to build a hackintosh to handle 8x 4MP Reolink RLC-410 cameras at the highest framerate possible. This system will be set up with local machine running security spy but most of the time I'll be monitoring this property from my home hundreds of miles away.
Question: As this machine will be dedicated to SecuritySpy 99% of the time. I'm curious how the hardware acceleration works. Is it using the GPU, or Quicksync on Intel CPU, or ??? Since I have the ability to choose components in a hackintosh build, I would like to optimize for best performance, and bang for buck.
If a Skylake CPU like 6600k with its onboard graphics will get me there then great. If I need a gpu to leverage it then I need to know that.
Please advise.

I believe it's in the GPU, however Apple does not make public which graphics hardware it supports for this feature. The current Mac Pros do not have this feature, while the current Mac minis, iMacs and MacBook Pros do (as far as we can tell), so if you are able to use exactly the same graphics hardware as, say, an iMac (AMD Radeon R9 M380 / R9 M390 / R9 M395 / R9 M395X), then it might work.
