CPU usage with no motion detection or recording

I have just changed my setup so that the camera's do the motion detection and record to a ftp server independently and the security spy now has motion detection and recording turned off - however I'm not seeing a drop in CPU usage. Surely if no clients are connected and viewing data from security spy should it not be running and low power - almost idling ?

    Hi Dave, SecuritySpy will always decompress all incoming video frames, so this is probably the cause of the CPU usage you are seeing. Even though SecuritySpy may be in a state that doesn't require the video frames to be available, the state may change at any time (e.g. a video window is opened or a client requests a frame via the web server), and by decompressing all incoming frames in this way, SecuritySpy is then immediately ready to meet any demands for video frames. If it didn't do this, there may be a significant delay before the next key frame comes in from the camera and SecuritySpy can use it.

    However you may prefer lower CPU usage and don't mind about the delay, and therefore the next version of SecuritySpy will have an option to control this behaviour.
