Sudden loss of 4 screens after rebooting iMac

Hi Ben
I am running SecuritySpy with 4 Y-Cam Cameras. 2 using wifi and 2 Ethernet. I have had very few problems over the 3 years apart from when I realised that I had to set permanent IP addresses.
Yesterday morning (June 1st) I had a system crash and the computer refused to reboot so I had to switch off. When I powered up, SecuritySpy duly came on but with a blue passive screen on each. I checked all IP settings on the camera settings and router firewall and all were as they should be. I then fired up the Y-Cam setup disk and all 4 appeared as they should. On logging into the cameras through the Y-cam setup there was no video as it said I was missing Quicktime. As I am running OSX 10.11.5 (Installed May 25), QuickTime I understand is no longer supported and the Apple help has a fix that does not appear to work and Y-Cam are no longer manufacturing IP cameras. Is this a red herring? Is SecuritySpy dependent on Quicktime? Do I need to change my camera settings? Any help would be appreciated.
I hope I am missing something as I have invested a lot of time and money into what is a great system.
Many thanks in advance for your advice.

  • HI Topher,

Blue screens after a reboot suggests a problem with the cameras' IP addresses. Are you sure these are set to manual (static) addresses on your network, as per our instructions?

Check the Log file, which you will find in the SecuritySpy folder within your Documents folder, as this should tell you more information about what is going wrong.

The message you are getting in the web browser is referring to the QuickTime web browser plugin, which is not supported on modern browsers. The inability to view video from the camera in a web browser via its web interface in no way affects SecuritySpy's ability to receive and display video from the cameras.
