SSpy Server - no video, however direct access - video
Hi folks,
Under what conditions would SSpy report No Video from a camera, while direct access to the camera provides video?
I have restarted numerous time, and in fact have reduced this SSpy's load to just 4 of the 9 cameras it usually (Happily) monitors. I have switched POE ports.
Axis M104 firmware level 5.50.3.4, Ca 6 streaming H.264 to a Mini 2.6 Ghz i7 w 16G running 10.8.5

This state went away with deleting and re-adding the video device.
The log reports DNS Resolution Failed. I used the IP number when adding the video device.

Glad to hear you resolved the problem. If SecuritySpy is attempting a DNS resolution of the address, this indicates that the IP address wasn't quite entered correctly, maybe it had some other stray characters or whitespace which meant that it couldn't be interpreted as an IP address.

Something along that line - I was actually using a bonjour address ( garageinterior.local. ) and I think the resolution was/is flaky.
I have since seen this with another camera and followed the same resolution chain. For just right now ( project-wise) it's more profitable for me to nail down w/IP numbers than friendly names.
I was starting to wonder if the POE switches were somehow failing! -
Ah that explains it. Bonjour works well in 99% of cases, but like you we have seen the occasional anomaly with perfectly valid addresses not resolving, so for ultimate reliability using IP addresses is best.
