Deleted Files
I got quite a shock today when I discovered that Sec Spy had deleted all recorded fileds. Luckily I had backups but I'm not sure why this happened.
I have SS recording to a sparse.bundle volume and it is set to delete files to maintain 10GB of free space. I knew the volume was getting close to the 10 GB limit, but it should have just started deleted old files as planned. Instead finder was reporting the volume as still nearly full even after all of the SS files were deleted. I assume that since finder was incorrectly reporting the free space that SS just kept deleting files until there were none left. Repairing the drive with disk utility fixed the size reporting issue and its adding files again.
Any idea why this happened and if it can be avoided?

This isn't something we've seen before, but it's certainly possible that if the disk becomes corrupt and therefore is continually reporting that it's full, then SecuritySpy will keep attempting to delete files in order to free up some space for new recordings. The only thing you can do to protect against problems like these is to maintain a backup, so that's good news that you had the foresight to do so.
