I setup motion recording on one of my cameras two days ago and it has been capturing video ok. I have been setting up a mask and have cleared out the videos taken so far. Now, I cannot set the camera to active. The log message below tells me that there is a file missing so I guess I have deleted something I shouldn't have but I don't know what?

27-02-2016 0952-52: Error running the camera "Network camera 3" in active mode, it has been set to passive mode 3.4.7,705,-43 File not found

27-02-2016 1050-33: Error sending PTZ command for camera "Network camera 3" 3.4.7,4410,32 Broken pipe (EPIPE)

  • Firstly, you are using an old version of SecuritySpy, so please download and install the latest version of SecuritySpy (simply quit your current version, download and install the new one, and it will ask you if you want to replace your current one).

The error relates to file/disk access, so if you have specified a custom capture destination for SecuritySpy, make sure it is available, or else reset the capture destination in the Setup section of the Camera Settings window. By default, SecuritySpy captures to the ~/Documents/SecuritySpy/Captured Files/ folder (within your user folder), and you should not manually manipulate files or folders within this folder.

If that doesn't do it, please try a restart of your Mac.
  • Thanks Ben. I updated SecuritySpy but first I had to reboot the Mac as there was a network problem. When I pulled up the video window the problem camera was immediately showing as Active. I guess the reboot was most likely to have fixed the problem.
