VLC can't scroll video smoothly- new problem
Wondering if anyone has a suggestion to help me save this so I don't have to switch to Quicktime. I've been using VLC for a while to view my IP cam captures, and I like it. Suddenly I'm finding I can't scroll smoothly through the video. This happens with both .mov and .m4v. I tried updating to the latest VLC, a hair better (originally I found that the videos were just stuck on the initial frame in VLC, no problem in Quicktime.)
Restarted, problem still there. 366 GB showing free on my 500 GB startup SSD. Any suggestions for settings to look at appreciated. The videos are saved by Security Spy but I don't see how that would be an issue as QT has no problem with them.

At the advice of another forum I trashed preference file/folder for VLC- no change.
