Zmodo ZP-KE1H04-S... can I use security spy to view

I know this is a "system" but these cameras appear to be IP cameras. So the question... if I were to buy this system with four cameras, would security spy be able to see the cameras? Seems like a potentially cheap way to get a few more cameras with sPOE as well.

I can't say for sure if this NVR or the cameras that come with it will work with SecuritySpy as this hasn't been tested yet, as far as I know. However, according to Zmodo's web site: "All of the current IP based Zmodo products are Onvif compatible, which means that they can be viewed from 3rd Party viewing softwares", so this is very encouraging and would suggest that it would work, using the ONVIF profile in SecuritySpy.

While the Amazon listing doesn't mention ONVIF compatibility, Zmodo does on their product page for the device, though it's not clear whether this applies to the NVR, or the cameras, or both.

So it should work, however I would advise contacting Zmodo first to confirm that the cameras themselves are ONVIF-compatible, and then purchasing from somewhere with a good returns policy, just in case you run into trouble. If you decide to go for this, please report back and let us know how you get on.

This is a warning to users of Zmodo cameras:

The latest firmware release from Zmodo intentionally disables standard protocols such as ONVIF and RTSP, which prevents them working with third-party software such as SecuritySpy. They claim that they are doing this for the purposes of "fixing security issues", however a less charitable (but in my opinion more plausible) interpretation is that this is a tactic to force customers to use their own apps and recorders.

I would advise anyone with a Zmodo camera to avoid installing any further firmware updates, and to make sure the camera is not set to update itself automatically.
