Motion detection for security spy. Suggest "barrier crossing" implementation in future versions.
A question concerning the algorithm for motion detection.
I use a Sharx bullet camera to look over a home swimming pool.
1. When I use security spy for motion detection I get many false alarms (20-30 a day), e.g. rippling in the water due to the filtering system, changes in lighting when a cloud passes over, and other events that should not trigger an alarm. I’ve tried masking and changing sensitivity and am not aware of anything else I can do. These changes do not help in a meaningful way.
I no longer use "Sighthound" as there are too many issues with remote access, however the motion detection they use that involves "barrier crossing" is the most effective I've used with a home system.
When I use the motion detection from the camera and disable security spy's there are rarely any false alarms (0-1 a day), and thats using the cameras default setting for sensitivity and threshold of 50% .
Is there anything someone can suggest to improve my set up? The other 3 (another Sharx and 2 Hikvision) cameras seem to work as they should with security spy.

A barrier crossing option is a good idea - perhaps an idea for a future enhancement to SecuritySpy.
For now, the best thing would be for you to email us a few example false-positive movie files. We can use these to improve the motion-detection algorithm, and we also might have some suggestions on how to reduce the false-positive rate with the current version.
