zoom amd presets not working properly in Foscam f19900p
As per subject. In a browser window the zoom function works as expected, click + once, it zooms a little, click again it zooms a little and you can do this in and out for the full range of zoom. In SS click + once and the camera zooms to its maximum, no way to stop it, Click - once and the camera returns to full wide angle, there's no in between.
In presets if I zoom in to the maximum and save that as a 'ZOOM' preset. then zoom back to wide angle, clicking the 'ZOOM' preset does nothing ???
In presets if I zoom in to the maximum and save that as a 'ZOOM' preset. then zoom back to wide angle, clicking the 'ZOOM' preset does nothing ???

Hi Peter, this camera is a fixed camera that has no mechanical pan, tilt, or zoom features, and hence we do not support zooming this camera in SecuritySpy. If the camera responds to any of SecuritySpy's commands it must be simply digital zoom (i.e. enlarging the image in software), which is not particularly useful as it doesn't add any new pixels to the video; it just interpolates the existing pixels.
Please see our list of compatible cameras to find out which features we support in which cameras. -
That's odd, I was told it was 8x optical zoom. if it is digital zoom it's really good, none of the usual artifacting that I get when using the digital zoom on my avtech cameras. The video stays sharp even when zoomed in to the maximum on the foscam

Hi Peter, are we talking about the same camera? Here's Foscam's FI9900P page - there is no mention of optical zoom that I can see - the focal length is listed as a fixed 2.8mm.

Darn, you're right, I didn't come across that page, I'd bought it from a third party and was led to believe it was optical zoom. OH crap, well for the price of it, it is a cracker wee camera and the 'zoom' is really crisp so I couldn't be bothered fighting over it. Thanks Ben

I agree - it's actually a really nice camera for the price! One of Foscam's better offerings in my opinion.
