Camera trigger vs SS trigger for recording

Looking at the discussions it always seems better to offload as much processing as possible to the camera. That said, if the camera has a motion trigger and masking, would it better to use that? Would SS pick up the sudden video stream and record it? How much would I save on CPU usage?

  • Hi Radjin, currently it's not possible for SecuritySpy to use the camera's on-board motion detection. There is no unification in the way that different manufacturers have implemented such features, so it would be an extremely difficult task to implement this in NVR software. So you must use SecuritySpy's own motion-detection functionality, which does use a certain amount of the Mac's CPU, but it is effective and works the same way across all camera makes and models.
