Is there any way that the Motion Detection feature could have 2 sensitivity settings, one for daytime and one for night? During the day, there are many transient variations which forces me to turn the sensitivity down and during the evening it doesn't appear to be sensitive enough. I have SecuritySpy set for Motion capture with separate movies for each event, I also have a Continuous capture setting where I capture a frame every 24 seconds and have the playback set to 30 fps. That captures the whole day and condenses 24 hrs into 2 minutes. When I review the time lapse movie, it captures many things that motion detection setting (during evening hours) just doesn't pick up. Any thoughts on this?

    It's probably that the wide variation of lighting conditions between day and night that is leading to this difference. The only way to have SecuritySpy auto-adjust the sensitivity between day and night is to write a script that sets the sensitivity value based on the time of day. If you like, we can prepare such a script for you. If you would like us to do this, please let us know where in the world are you located so that we can find the sunrise/sunset times local to you.

    Hi Mikey, I have prepared this script for you. It will change the sensitivity of one of your cameras to a set value depending on the sunrise/sunset times in your area.

    You'll need to edit it in order to specify the two sensitivity values you want and the camera number. To do this, drag it onto the AppleScript Editor application, which you'll find in your /Applications/Utilities/ folder. Edit the top three lines to set these values, then save the script (cmd-S). Make sure SecuritySpy is running at the same time so that AppleScript Editor can locate it and check its AppleScript dictionary against the script's syntax.

    Then simply run it by double-clicking on it, and leave it running in the background. You'll probably want to set it to automatically open upon login too, so that it will continue to run after your Mac restarts.
