Best settings for motion detection
I'm wondering what settings other people use for motion detection. This is my first week using SecuritySpy, and I'm digging the features. So far the biggest challenge I've found is getting the settings right for motion detection. I have a camera located in the front of my house, looking over the driveway and front yard. When the gardeners showed up earlier this week I received about 30 e-mails from the motion detection. When I viewed some of the videos later I noticed that it didn't look like they stopped moving, so in theory it should have been one big movie, or maybe a few big movies for when they weren't in camera view, but certainly not 30. Anybody have any thoughts?

Hi - it sounds like you simply need to increase the "post-capture" time for the camera in question, in the Camera Settings window. If this is too short, you will get lots of small movies generated (because SecuritySpy will stop recording after motion has stopped and the post-capture time has elapsed). Increasing the post-capture time will give you fewer longer movies in the situation you describe.

Do you have a suggestion for an appropriate value? I think it's currently set at 15 seconds.

15 seconds is normally a good value to use. Perhaps then the sensitivity is too low, or the gardeners are too far away from the camera, to sustain continuous motion detection. Perhaps a slight increase in the post-capture time combined with a slight increase in the sensitivity will give you the results you want.
