Remote Patrol Notifications / IP addresses

I was having some latency issues, so I scrapped SS and started over with a more simple setup. Remote Patrol is setup and connecting, but notifications do not work. I have no Little Snitch, and I've tried power cycling the server and iPhone, and toggling notifications ON/OFF (per some threads I researched prior to posting). Notifications are enabled in the iPhone for RP. I do have a firewall (Zywall), could that be blocking notifications?

Second question, when setting up a new device in Video Device Settings in SS, is it okay to use the same camera's IP address twice? One for an HD feed (24/7) and one for a web feed (5fps, lower res, etc). Or is there another better way to do this?

  • With the notifications, make sure you are using the latest version of SecuritySpy. Usually the cause of this problem is due to some kind of connection-blocking software, and certainly a firewall could be the case. Make sure your firewall is allowing outgoing connections on port 2195 (this is the port used by Apple's servers for accepting push notifications messages for delivery to iOS devices).

As for adding two different streams from the same camera, yes it's fine to do this however note that this will count as two separate cameras towards your SecuritySpy license. If you want to view a lower-resolution stream via SecuritySpy's web server there are options to do this right on the front page of the web interface (you can choose half size, quarter size etc.) - can you use this option instead?
  • I'm using the latest version. So odd, I get random notifications (once every 5-10 days) that do not align up with any actual notification. And only one. Then nothing. I'll just use the email toggle when I need it for now.
