Wirepath Camera Issues
I'm trying to get SS working with some Wirepath cameras. I think they are mostly OEM'd cams from other vendors. When I do a net scan they come up as Snap AV. I've used the SNAP AV settings but I keep getting green screens every few minutes, which sets off the SS motion detection. Is anyone seeing something like this?
Thanks,

Hi Mike,
If you are getting video with intermittent green screens, then this is down to failure in the video decompression of the incoming H.264 video from the camera. So SecuritySpy is sending the correct request for the video stream, which is being understood by the camera, causing it to send the video stream, but for some reason the stream is corrupt.
Most problems like this are fixed by updated camera firmware. Unfortunately if they are OEM cameras then this is often difficult to find, but start with the OEM vendor, and then see if you can update the cameras with the source firmware from SnapAV. Maybe contacting SnapAV directly about this is the way to go.
The other thing to look at is the network: if it's not fast enough, this may result in bad video data (it shouldn't, but in some cases bad camera firmware design causes corrupt video data in low-bandwidth situations). What is your network setup at the moment? If the camera are connected wirelessly, try wired ethernet instead - ideally via a high-quality Gigabit ethernet switch using high-quality cables.
Also make sure you are using the latest version of SecuritySpy, as newer versions have more efficient network code than older versions. -
Ben,
The network is solid, everything is wired with high end switches, no sign of data loss or corruption from the non-wirepath cams. I am also using the latest SecuritySpy.
I'll see what I can do to update the firmware.
Any thoughts on Lilin cams? The vendor who supplied the Wirepaths are offering to change them to Liln's. I've tested one and it seems fine.
Thanks!

Hi Mike,
Lilin have a good selection of cameras with decent specifications, and while we aren't as familiar with them as we are with other manufacturers' products, we rarely hear of any problems with them from customers. So I think if you have the opportunity to swap your troublesome cameras for some Lilins instead then I would say that sounds like a good idea. -
Actually, I am also using the camera AVM457A AVTECH 2M, with high quality of night vision. I never face this type of issue ever with my cam.
