Scheduling Cameras

Recently I noticed, so I can't say this hasn't always been a problem, but: I am running SS 3.44 and I am unable to control cameras motion detection using a schedule.. At first I though it was because I screwed up the schedule, but then I created a schedule that was all Green. Assigned this to the cameras and I am still getting detection.. Again any help would be appreciate.. I am running SS 3.44 and 10.6.8 Server on a mac min

Hi, even when a schedule is set for a camera, that camera can still be manually set to Active mode via the Control menu, camera status window, web server etc.

When you set a camera to Active mode manually when there is a schedule in place, SecuritySpy will honour this manual setting until the next event in the schedule occurs, at which point it will revert back to the schedule. If you have no events in the schedule (i.e. it is all green), then this will never happen.

So, I would advise you to set up your schedule how you want it, with green (Passive) and red (Active) periods as required, and then manually set the camera to the mode that matches what is set in the schedule for that particular time. Then things should proceed as expected.

Manually setting the camera sort of defeats the purpose of schedule doesn't it??? Say I want the camera to record motion at 3 AM - 6AM I have to be up to change it from passive to active???

Hi - no that's not what I'm saying. What I mean is that you can make a manual change any time for a camera that has a schedule, and that manual change will take effect until the next event in the schedule, at which point SecuritySpy will revert to the schedule. This ability to make manual changes explains why the camera was recording even though your entire schedule was green.

So if you want the camera to record from 3am to 6am each morning, draw red boxes in the schedule to cover this time period each day, and simply leave SecuritySpy alone.

When I said that you should manually set the camera to the mode that matches what is set in the schedule "for that particular time", what I meant what the time in which you set up the schedule initially, so that you start it in the right mode. Then everything will proceed automatically.
