SecuritySpy with Logitech Alert cameras?

I have been looking at various outdoor cameras to use with SecuritySpy and while I would expect these to cost more than indoor cameras a lot of them a hugely more expensive. I recently came across the Logitech Alert family of products only to then discover they have effectively been discontinued.

The Logitech Alert range do seem good quality both from an image point of view and construction point of view. Whilst one can currently get updated software from Logitech for them I was wondering if it is possible to use SecuritySpy with them? Also the standard Logitech software only supports a maximum of 6 cameras, would it be possible to do more than this with SecuritySpy?

The 750e is probably the model I would be considering.

  • Hi - yes the Alert 750e is supported by SecuritySpy (see the full list of supported cameras). And SecuritySpy's limit to the number of cameras you can use is purely determined by the license you purchase and the processing power of your Mac, so you can use many more than 6 if you need to.

However, the Alert is showing its age a bit now. If you don't need audio, there are some Dahua outdoor bullet cameras models that are better in terms of both price and quality - see our 10 recommended IP cameras 2015 blog post for more details.

If you let us know your requirements, we can recommend some specific models.
