Simple on off switch via remote patrol or other app?

I have some cameras that are always on and some I only need to be on when I leave the house. Is there any way to accomplish a single home/away click via my iPhone? Can't see a way via remote patrol. Feature request?

Any other app that might do this with security spy?

Hi,

Yes this is possible in Remote Patrol, by setting the cameras to Active mode when you leave the house, and Passive mode when you return (the cameras will only record in Active mode). In Remote Patrol, if you click the round "i" button next to the server on the first screen, you get a list of cameras with switches for each one where you can turn on/off Active mode.

As an alternative to having to take an action yourself, you might consider looking at Indigo 6 from Perceptive Automation. They integrate with a large number of home control systems or generic plug-ins. You could (as I do) trigger things based on the appearance or absence of your phone's MAC address in the ARP table of your wireless router. Or based on a light switch toggle, or motion detection, or a bunch of other options. Indigo can mark cameras as active or inactive along with a few other actions.

Ben, thank you but that is not just a single click... I do that now. One of the problems is every time I do this remote patrol quits... then I have to go relaunch it and double check if it "took"... but even so it's not ideal.

If you look at how software is being designed from a UI perspective this is a feature you might consider. A simple three way toggle switch... home/away/off. It's the same way my Simplisafe home security system works. I shouldn't have to go three clicks deep for this, it should be at the home page IMO... for both SS and RP...

I love the depth of your program, it is fantastic, but for day to day use I think the UI can be simplified greatly. Thank you for reading and considering this.

Jtodd, I will definitely look into Indigo 6, that sounds excellent. One other option that I was thinking was exactly what you suggest... I would LOVE it if my system would "know" when my phone is joined my wifi and disable notifications in SS (and in my phone/remote patrol). It would be great to set it up so all phones (wife/kids) could be registered and when any join WIFI notifications turn off. Thanks for the great suggestion!

I really believe if SS had these features you would own the security camera software space... IMO!
