Web interface vs MacOS interface

I have been using SS for several years and love the product. When the web interface got upgraded to be very similar to the MacOS native interface - I thought it was great. And on many occasions have found myself using it for remote access instead of Screen Share (remote desktop) - it is lighter weight for quick things. Especially since I have 2 sites and am always remote to one of them :)

One of the features of the MacOS interface has that I really like is the combination of how the Capture Browser allows you to start with a Motion Captured event, and if you have Continuous Capture also enabled, you keep watching from that point on well past the end of the Motion Capture. That has been extremely helpful (as well as the Jump feature).

I can think of many reason why it would be difficult to bring this to the web interface version (mostly how streaming works) - but I thought I was ask if that was somewhere on the backlog for future release. It would be awesome if possible.

Thanks

Eric

  • Hi Eric, great to hear you are enjoying SecuritySpy!

Thanks for the feature suggestion, I agree that this would be a nice feature to add. However, it would be very technically challenging to implement this sort of thing via the web interface, and its performance would be highly dependent on the speed of the network connection involved (e.g. it probably wouldn't work well over the Internet, especially if there are lots of files).

We will certainly consider this for a future update, though I can't promise if/when we will be able to do this.

  • Thank Ben - I figured it would be technically difficult to implement. Best I could think of was to index into the continuous capture and then stream from there - but that is a lot easier to stay than pull off.
