Add non-local cameras or SecuritySpy servers
Is it possible to add SecuritySpy servers in the same way in ViewCam as the iOS app such that it will use a local connection if it is found and if not use the viewcam.me connection?
I just discovered I can use the iOS app for Mac-based viewing while I am traveling, but ON the Mac, I prefer the ViewCam interface.
In ViewCam I have cameras that feed three separate SecuritySpy systems all added. They are separated into groups in ViewCam. But this is a local-only configuration as it connects to the cameras directly.
But if I could add all three SecuritySpy servers the same way the iOS app does it, it would work local or remote. (Ideally I'd like to have all cameras available at once in the All Cameras view, rather than have to switch from one to another like the iOS app. But if that is resource intensive, having each SecuritySpy server treated like a Group would work well too.)
Thanks!

When you add a SecuritySpy server to the iOS app, both the local-network (LAN) and Internet (WAN) addresses to the server are stored.
Then, every time you open the iOS app to connect, the app will try all known addresses simultaneously. It will use whichever one works, with a preference for the local address.
I hope this answers your question - please let me know if you need to know anything else.

Right, but I asked about ViewCam, not the iOS app... haha
I like how the iOS app does it, I asked if ViewCam can, or could in the future, do it the same way.

Ah sorry, I misread your message! At the moment, there is no similar mechanism in ViewCam, and we are unlikely to add it, since ViewCam is based on the SecuritySpy codebase, and SecuritySpy has little need for such a feature.
However, the SecuritySpy iOS app can be run on Apple Silicon Macs, so if you have a Mac with M1/M2/M3/M4 chip that moves around and therefore sometimes needs to use different addresses to access your system, this would be a good solution for you.
Alternatively, you could use the import/export settings option in the File menu in ViewCam to manage two different sets of settings based on your location. This is a bit clunky but would work well, and avoid the need to add cameras twice and separate them into groups for this purpose.
