Should I update to the latest macOS ?

I currently run the latest version of security spy (6.13) on a 2020 Mac Mini M1 running macOS 11.3.1, two camera system (Hikvision) using external memory to record (5TB LaCie).

Should I go to macOS 15.6.1 ? Are there any issues to look out for ?

Thanks

  • You can rest assured that they both run just fine. In my case, the M1 is equipped with the minimum memory of 8 GB. Though, sometimes you have to toggle Local Network access off and on again in Privacy & Security settings, because macOS occasionally forgets that it’s already enabled.

  • Running M2 mini 15.6.1. No problem with SS 6.13.

  • Thanks,

I upgraded to 15.6.1, The only issue I encountered was as follows. My Mac Mini has no screen/keyboard/mouse. I access it via screen sharing. After the upgrade was finished I could not access it via screen sharing. I had to hook it up to a screen/keyboard/mouse. I could be wrong, but it seems that the first time you logon with a new software version screen sharing will not work and therefore it needs a screen/keyboard/mouse. Once I logged in just once, now screen sharing works again. I can power cycle it also and screen sharing works.

  • "Control camera" doesn't seem to be working as of today, that includes the latest official release of Tahoe.

@fester - I see from your other comment that you're using the latest beta version of SecuritySpy. I think this is a bug in the beta, we'll make sure to fix this soon.

  • Hi Ben, it also has the bug in the official release yesterday.
