Amcrest Dual Lens Cameras

Hello - anyone use an Amcrest dual lens camera with security spy? I see that the camera list says all Amcrest cameras work, i just didn’t know how up-to-date that list is. I didn’t see ONVIF on the specs and that is how i have my older Amcrest cameras configured.

I am looking for a camera like this one https://amcrest.com/4k-dual-lens-panoramic-poe-ai-camera-ip8m-dlb2998ew-ai.html

TIA

Spencer

  • Hi Spencer, with this camera and others like it, the camera stitches together the images from each sensor, and provides one seamless image to the client (SecuritySpy). So from SecuritySpy's point of view, this is just one extra-wide stream. This looks like a nice camera at a good price!

  • Thanks Ben, I didn't know how they worked!

  • I have 2 of the Reolink dual lens cameras. They're fantastic. One camera covers a 180 degree field of fiew (the entire front of my building), another for the back. Love 'em.

  • @sblunden Did you go with one of these? I sort of gave up on Amcrest after they started shipping cameras that have proprietary network protocols (not ONVIF) and I couldn't tell what was useless and what was not useless.

  • @jtodd I understand your reservations here - Amcrest now have two lines of cameras without standard protocols like ONVIF (presumably in order to tie you into their subscriptions): "SmartHome" and "Link". This indeed makes it more difficult to determine the useful cameras from the useless ones. It's a shame, because most of their cameras do support ONVIF, and are good value.

  • I have the Amcrest Dual lens camera. It works great. I use the Amcrest profile in the SS setup. I have never been microphone to work so I can talk through it. But considering where I have it - not a big deal.
