Viewcam connecting to Securityspy server

I have bad performance when connecting viewcam to my Sspy server, only 2-3 fps with h264 or jpeg, local network. The server is a Mac mini 2018 with enough ram and a lot free CPU power.

But I have 15fps when importing the pref file of the server in view cam (32 cams / h264)

Also, its not possible anymore to use an unregistered version of Sspy to view cam ? (edit, ok found the answer in another post)

Is it possible to have an "enable" switch for each cam in view cam ?

  • The limitation here must be on the server side: although your server Mac has a good amount of CPU power, it is still limited in the amount of video data it can encode and send, and so 2-3fps must be its maximum capable rate for 32 cameras.

Conversely, when you connect directly to the IP cameras, you are not limited by the server's encoding resources, so the streams have much higher frame rates. This is a better solution, but it does require that you purchase a SecuritySpy or ViewCam license.

I do see the utility of adding an "Enable" switch - we'll add this in a future update if there is enough user demand for it.

  • Thanks for your answer :-)

Please consider the possibility to view stored events from a connected SSpy server.
