There are a number of different formats available for live streaming of video and audio:
JavaScript MJPEG
This method uses a scripting language called JavaScript to continuously download and display JPEG images, providing high performance over fast connections. This is the most compatible method, working on all web browsers and platforms. Audio is also supported on most major browsers.
Server-Push MJPEG
This method uses a continuous MJPEG stream, providing high performance over fast connections, and is supported by all major web browsers except Internet Explorer. Audio is also supported on most major browsers.
Still Image JPEG
A still image will be displayed for each camera. To refresh the display with new images, press the browser's reload button.
HTTP Live Streaming H.264
This is Apple's standard format for streaming media from web servers. It it supported by the Safari web browser on macOS and iOS, and provides both video and audio via an efficient stream that adapts to the bandwidth conditions of the connection. Due to the complexities of this format, there is however an unavoidable latency of around 10 seconds.
Auto
An appropriate method will be chosen automatically for the browser you are using (usually JavaScript JPEG or Server-Push JPEG).
