File transfer and notification

Hi!

Is there a way to have daily capture done to my local storage (nvme) and once the day is over transfer archive to a NAS, and yet kept access to both location to review any footage?

Is it possible to have a notification when someone log onto SS for live viewing or other?

  • SecuritySpy does not have function to save video to one place, then to archive it to another place at a later date. My recommendation would be to record either directly to the NAS, or to some other external drive (e.g. connected by USB) that is dedicated to SecuritySpy.

There is no option to have a notification when someone logs in to the web interface, however you can see active connections in real time (this function is available from the main page of the web interface when logged in as an admin user), and you can check the web log file for previous connections (if you have enabled logging at Settings > Web).

You may wish to implement something using the built-in Apple cron tool which can be given a script that on a fixed interval moves files that are more than X seconds old. See this similar thread from four years ago:

Update: we are adding automatic archive functionality to SecuritySpy (when the primary location fills up, files are transferred to an archive location, but still available throughout the software). Please let me know if you would like to test it and I will provide a link to the beta version with this addition.

  • Oooh that's cool, and it would correlate nicely with the new Mac Mini M4 I'm adding to my setup. Sign me up for the beta please!

  • @photonclock - great, simply grab the latest beta (currently 6.13b3). Under Settings > Storage, you'll see the option to add an archive destination. This works based on free space: when the primary fills up, old files are moved to the archive location. When this fills up, old files there are deleted. Designed to be simple easy and transparent. Please provide any feedback after testing this!

  • Update: SecuritySpy 6.13 has now been released, which includes the option to automatically archive old files. This is documented in the manual at Settings - Storage.
