PTZ controls, MacOS vs iOS/TvOS

I have a PTZ camera configured via ONVIF, RTSP via TCP, h264 video only.

The ptz controls work perfectly on the security spy server (running on a 2012 i7 iMac). Zero config required.

On iOS and AppleTV apps i can bring up the ptz controls, can pan left and right but tilt is unresponsive. If i have presets i can select them and they work fine even if they require tilt.

Using MacOS on my 2017 iMac, connecting to the ss server via HTTPS on port 8001, the tilt works fine.

Is there any difference in the way ptz commands are sent in MacOS vs iOS that you can think of which might point me in the right direction to troubleshoot this?

My ss server is only available remotely via https, http is disabled. I’m not sure how i can see any further details about the connection via iOS other than its https on 8001 so i dont know if it differs to the macos connection.

Any suggestions please?

Thank you.

  • I have tested this here and I'm afraid I can't reproduce the problem. For me, all PTZ commands work just fine when issued by the iOS app. There should be no difference between the commands sent by macOS SecuritySpy and iOS SecuritySpy.

Would you be willing to allow us temporary access to your system to test this? We would just need access to this one camera, including permissions to control the PTZ - you can create a temporary web server account for this purpose, and remove it when we're done. If this is OK with you, please email the connection details to us at support@bensoftware.com.
