Feature Request: 3DConnexion Space Mouse Support
I use a 3D Connexion Space Mouse for CAD work.

It would be a perfect PTZ controller for Security Spy. It would honestly really set Security Spy apart from other NVR software. If you would consider making a plug-in and adding support for it, I have an extra wireless Space Mouse ($170) I could send to you, free of charge, that you could keep if you develop support for it.

Thanks for the suggestion, and the offer to send a mouse for testing. We would like to support a physical joystick for PTZ support, but it seems to us that the best device for this would be Apple's Siri Remote. It's inexpensive, has good developer support from Apple for us to integrate, and many users have one already. We haven't implemented this yet because it's not clear that there is sufficient demand for it, but this is on our list of potential features to implement in the future.
Was hoping to use my SpaceMouse 3D Pro to control the cameras given that there is no autotracking in the software. Has some kind of PTZ joystick controller been implemented by chance? It may be a learning curve, but given the need to click to start recording and the need to use the keyboard to control the camera plus zoom, I'm so far finding it impossible to track quick moving objects with the camera.
Sorry but there is currently no support for hardware PTZ controllers. PTZ can be controlled in the software from the panel that pops out from the sides of the video windows, or using keyboard commands, or by holding shift (or caps lock) and clicking directly on the video feeds.
Yes, it's going to be difficult to track fast-moving objects. While this may be a bit easier with a hardware device, the fast majority of users don't have one of these, and I think it would still be difficult for fast-moving objects even with a hardware device. We'll see what we can do in the future, but I can't promise if/when this feature will be implemented. Note that while auto-tracking is a nice concept, these kinds of functions never really work well due to the difficulties involved in implementing them effectively, which is why we haven't implemented this in SecuritySpy.
When you say you need to "click to start recording", what do you mean exactly? Once set to a suitable schedule (e.g. "Armed 24/7"), SecuritySpy's recording is automatic (see Recording and Schedules).
