Error from camera "FaceTime HD Camera (Built-in)"

edited October 2017 in SecuritySpy
Hi All,

I've recently started using my FaceTime HD Camera for recording again. I'm on SecuritySpy 4.1.7 and macOS 10.13 (w/October supplemental update) and my camera feed times out pretty randomly as far as interval goes, but it will do this all day long. I've got an excerpt from my log below. I've never had this issue before and when I have my camera open with any other apps (FaceTime, QuickTime, Photo Booth, etc) it doesn't drop out like this. Not sure what's going on. Any ideas?

  • We've also seen this in our testing - it seems to be a new problem in macOS 10.13 "High Sierra". After some (seemingly random) length of time, frames simply stop flowing from the camera. This causes SecuritySpy to timeout and give this error. It will then continuously attempt to reconnect to the camera.

This looks like a macOS bug. In this situation, all SecuritySpy can do is close and re-open the connection to the camera. Perhaps we can make this process faster and less visible, so you will only get a timeout error appearing if repeated attempts of reconnection have failed. We'll do some more testing to see what we can come up with.
