Can this forum warn us that it won't let us post due to us using a VPN?
Several times now this forum lets me read posts and then compose a new post....only for that post to simply not be posted (no error message) after I hit submit.
It appears this is because I am using a VPN to try to protect my privacy in some small measure, and of course we little people trying to have privacy is verboten in the larger digital society.
If this forum isn't going to allow posts over a VPN, can it put up a warning message that says that, or simply block us from even reading the forum?
Or even better, allow us to use VPNs?

Sorry about that - this is the first I have heard of this issue. There is nothing configured in this forum that should prevent the use of a VPN to access it. The forum doesn't care what Internet connection you use, or where you are (or seem to be) located. Can you run a few more tests by posting some tests comments on this thread? You can comment, then edit your comment, or I can delete them afterwards. Do the tests reveal a definite pattern with issues when connected via VPN?

Well today it's working with the VPN. Maybe I jumped the gun on my diagnosis and it was something else.
Edit: just seems to be more frequent these days with forums not liking VPNs.
Edit edit: and it seems as CloudFlare becomes more adopted (not sure if you use that), that VPNs cause more issues. But working now.
Edit edit edit: I've noticed in the past that when I have these issues, like the one I had with your forum, if I switched off the VPN it was resolved, so I figured that was the issue. But I'm on the VPN now. Of course the VPN chooses different IP addresses so even with it, one works while another may not.

Good to hear it's working now. The forum doesn't filter by IP, and authentication is done via a cookie stored in your browser, independent on the connection itself.
We have had some performance issues with our site for the past few days, so there may have sometimes been a surprisingly long delay between hitting the "post" button and your post appearing on the page, and if you navigate away in this period perhaps the post is lost. The performance issues are now resolved, so if this was indeed the problem, I'm hoping it won't now continue. Let me know if you see any further strangeness!

Thanks Ben!
