We got this email today and wonder how the new brand of cameras will work with SecuritySpy. We’ve been happy with Amcrest up to this point.

Important Message from Amcrest Industries

For the past 12 years, we have proudly built the Amcrest brand in the United States in partnership with Dahua, the world's second-largest manufacturer of IP surveillance cameras. Due to recent FCC regulations, however, we are no longer able to import Dahua-manufactured products into the United States.

The good news is that we have partnered with Foxconn—one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers and the company that assembles Apple's iPhone—to launch our next-generation of IP surveillance products under the AMLINK brand.

AMLINK delivers high-quality, NDAA-compliant IP cameras and NVRs designed for both residential and commercial applications. The platform supports third-party integration through RTSP and has been engineered for a smooth transition from existing Amcrest systems. AMLINK cameras are compatible with Amcrest NVRs, and Amcrest cameras are compatible with AMLINK NVRs, allowing customers to expand or upgrade their systems without replacing existing equipment.

For more than 12 years, we have remained committed to delivering exceptional customer support, a U.S.-based warranty, and reliable, high-quality products. That commitment continues under the AMLINK brand. Our customers can expect the same dedication to end-user privacy and security, dependable hardware and software, and the intuitive, user-friendly experience that has defined our products from the beginning.

While our manufacturing partnership has evolved, our mission reamins unchanged: to provide innovative, reliable surveillance solutions backed by outstanding customer service and long-term support.

Amcrest Industries LLC will continue to provide support and operate as a distributor of the AMLINK brand. You can contact us at sales@amcrest.com or support@amcrest.com

If I try to use the AAC settings BitRate 16000 and sample rate 16000 (only choices available) all I get is static with quiet places. If I use the G.711 settings I get crappy old time audio - plus I have to reconstruct the audio to even get it to playback. When I do the reconstruction there is a noticeable latency between the audio and video.

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm wondering if anyone can offer advice on 2 problematic camera setups -

First is we have a small house on the coast, and I have a camera on the front yard/entry, under a large overhang and facing east - Works ok, other than a pretty continual spider problem. But I would like to put a camera on the west side of the house, to see the beach and ocean, just so I can look at it and cry while I'm stuck in the city working. But it will have no overhead cover, and be facing directly into the full impact of weather, salt water, and intense sun - any recommendations?

Second, I'm still looking for a doorbell camera for the front door of my warehouse - I had a Ring camera, but it got beaten to death by some junkie that thought it was surveilling him - so whatever I get has got to be pretty durable, or someone has to offer a serious cage assembly to protect it. That may not be available (yet) - but wondering if anyone has seen anything -

Happy Holidays,

We are entering our 10th year now since selecting SecuritySpy for our home and business security needs and we have been super impressed with the functionality, reliability and innovation of the folks at BenSoftware.com. We have used primarily Foscam FI9800Ps purchased before their manufacturing QA problems arose and only 3 of the 14 originally purchased have failed. I am now looking to expand our system and need a compatible camera that has an alarm that can be triggered in the "Actions" section of SS or by the camera itself. It needs to be WIFI compatible, bullet shaped and PTZ units are needed, powered at site of installation, with a loud alarm to keep birds away from protected areas. If the cameras also had flashing lights that would be a bonus but not absolutely required.

EDIT: Can be triggered by the camera itself or by "Actions".

NB: In the interim my AI has indeicated the following on Amazon might work and I will test it now: "REOLINK Home Security Camera System, 4MP HD Plug-in Indoor WiFi 6 Pan Tilt Pet Camera, Baby Monitor, Night Vision, 2 Way Talk, Smart Human/Pet Detection, Local microSD Card Storage, E1(2 Pack)". Other suggestions certainly welcomed.

Thanks in Advance for any assistance.

Hi all,

Trying to figure out if I can installed a wireless Hikvision camera and have it set up/linked to my current SecuritySpy setup. It will be the only wireless camera I use, along with my other PoE (ethernet cabled) cameras. Reason being the spot I wish to installed is difficult to connect with an ethernet cable.

I attach here a spec of the wireless camera I wish to install. Not sure if there are any info on this that indicate it's compatible with SecuritySpy system.

Thanks.

Hi all,

I'm trying to work out a problem with a Sunba camera at my parents house. From googling, I think it is a 507 series model, so an older PTZ.

It WAS working okay, but I bought a new Mac mini for them and somehow in moving SS over, I have messed something up. :-(

Looking at the old configuration (I still have the old Mac mini) it seems it was using ONVIF, RTSP (video and audio) with no username and password (!) Before the address was `uuid:` and a bunch of numbers/letters. I guess this means it was auto discovered? This does not seem to work any more, but I can see it on the network and log into it, so I just put the IPv4 address instead of the uuid.

However ... I don't see any video. I looked in the ONVIF.log and I see:

POST /onvif/device_service HTTP/1.1
User-Agent: BBVC
Connection: Keep-Alive

<body>The requested URL was not found on this server</body></html>

Looking in the main log I see:

01/06/2025 10:02:04 Error communicating with camera "Movable Camera". Error from network device. ONVIF error. 5.5.11,8440,8872

Weirdly, when logged into the camera there seems to be nothing I can do to set it up (the video feed doesn't even work because it needs some ActiveX plugin). And when I go to the sunba website it seems like everything I can download for macOS won't work on this brand new M4 Mac mini. Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

I've logged in to the camera as an ONVIF user, and have the camera set up in SS settings as an ONVIF camera with H.265 RTSP.

I'm not able to get the PTZ to work at all in SS.
