CaptureMate HD

Mac capture software for film transfer equipment
and high-quality uncompressed HD capture.

Thunderbolt cameras

CaptureMate HD supports BlackMagic Cinema Cameras. Video is captured directly via the Thunderbolt connection to your Mac, without requiring any additional input hardware.

DSLR cameras with HDMI output

HDMI video capture is supported in CaptureMate HD using BlackMagic Intensity input devices which connect to your Mac via PCIe, USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt.

Note that older models of DSLR cameras tended to place text overlays on top of their video output (containing information about aperture, shutter speed etc.), so you will need to find out if this is the case for your camera, or if it produces a "clean" HDMI stream with no text. The cameras listed here all output a clean live HDMI stream:

Standard-definition camcorders with FireWire output

Any SD camcorder that records in DV format (e.g. MiniDV) and has a FireWire output port can be used with CaptureMate HD, by simply connecting the camera's FireWire output to the Mac's FireWire input. If your Mac has Tunderbolt but not FireWire, you can purchase a FireWire-to-Thunderbolt adaptor from Apple to connect your camera.

USB cameras

Any USB camera compliant with the USB Video Class (UVC) protocol will work with CaptureMate. Examples of such devices include built-in iSight/Facetime cameras in Mac computers, and USB webcams.

Standard-definition analog cameras

Any analog video device can be using with CaptureMate HD via a suitable BlackMagic Intensity device or any USB 2.0 analog video input device supported by the VideoGlide driver software.
